From Director’s Desk

ABILAC has already passed a quarter of a century. I took up the reins of the institute from the 5th of January 2006.

From then onwards the Institute has never looked back. It has been recognised as a sister Institute of Gauhati University. It is also recognised by Dibrugarh University as a research Institute. The staff has increased and as a result of it output also has increased. It has been able to curve a niche in the academic circles both inland and abroad.

We have been striving to work for indigenous languages, art and culture of the people of Assam as well as the North East and at the same time draw the attention of the academia at large.

I hope the Institute will be able to fulfill its goals.
